Microstructure Modification of Additively Manufactured Mo–9Si–8B by Annealing and Its Effects on High‐Temperature Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Postbuild annealing systematically modifies the phase fractions and morphology of EB‐PBF processed Mo–9Si–8B. Quantitative microstructure–property correlations reveal how controlled phase evolution enhances high‐temperature compressive strength and creep resistance.

II. On onychester, a carboniferous brittle-star [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series B, Containing Papers of a Biological Character, 1914
Abstract It has recently been shown (11) that the Ophiuroidea may he divided into a group Protophiuroidea, including the Silurian and Devonian forms, and a group Euophiuroidea, including all the modern forms. The Euophiuroidea extend back into the Trias; considerable interest therefore attaches to the rare brittle-stars, which are all

Investigating the Effect of Inclination Angle and the Influence of Scan Parameters on the Appearance and Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Filigree Tension Rods of LPBF‐Manufactured NiTi Shape‐Memory Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates the dependence of the properties on the manufacturing orientation in the form of the inclination angle to the build plate of LPBF‐fabricated NiTi rods with a diameter of 150–220 µm. Metallographic, chemical, thermal, and mechanical characterization show behavior under identical manufacturing conditions that ranges from ...

An Explicit Constitutive Reconstruction Framework for Mechanical Characterization of Miniaturized 3D‐Printed Specimens

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An explicit constitutive reconstruction framework enables accurate tensile characterization of miniaturized additively manufactured specimens using only the grip‐to‐grip displacement measurements. Progressive validation through self‐consistency, analytical comparison, and inverse finite element method (iFEM) benchmarking demonstrates constitutive ...

Anti-cancer effects of the methanolic extract of Persian Gulf brittle star

open access: yesیافته‌های نوین در علوم زیستی, 2018
Nowadays natural compounds are increasingly used in various fields since they cause fewer adverse side effects than their chemical counterparts. In addition, preparation and production of natural compounds are comparatively simple.

Phylogeny of Echinoderm Hemoglobins. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Recent genomic information has revealed that neuroglobin and cytoglobin are the two principal lineages of vertebrate hemoglobins, with the latter encompassing the familiar myoglobin and α-globin/β-globin tetramer hemoglobin, and several minor groups.

Shallow- and Deep-Water Ophiura Species Produce a Panel of Chlorin Compounds with Potent Photodynamic Anticancer Activities

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2023
A Pacific brittle star Ophiura sarsii has previously been shown to produce a chlorin (3S,4S)-14-Ethyl-9-(hydroxymethyl)-4,8,13,18-tetramethyl-20-oxo-3-phorbinepropanoic acid (ETPA) (1) with potent phototoxic activities, making it applicable to ...

Brittle–ductile transition during diamond turning of single crystal silicon carbide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this experimental study, diamond turning of single crystal 6H-SiC was performed at a cutting speed of 1 m/s on an ultra-precision diamond turning machine (Moore Nanotech 350 UPL) to elucidate the microscopic origin of ductile-regime machining ...

Entropy‐Driven Design of Low‐Melting‐Point Alloys via Compositionally Complex Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Conventional low‐melting‐point alloys (LMPAs) are limited by a narrow compositional space and inherent property trade‐offs. This review presents an entropy‐driven design strategy that overcomes these limitations, ushering in a new class of low‐melting‐point compositionally complex alloys (LMCCAs).
