Ultra-broadband dissipative soliton and noise-like pulse generation from a normal dispersion mode-locked Tm-doped all-fiber laser.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2016
We report generation of ultra-broadband dissipative solitons and noise-like pulses from a simple, fully fiberized mode-locked Tm-doped fiber laser. The oscillator operates in the normal net dispersion regime and is mode-locked via nonlinear polarization ...

Arm‐Length‐Controlled CsPbBr3 Nanocrystals for Tunable Optical and Assembly Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, the synthesis parameters that dictate the formation of armed CsPbBr3 nanocrystals are described, and routes enabling precise control over arm length are proposed. Direct links between morphology and optoelectronic behavior are established.

Spatial and Temporal Variation in the Acoustic Habitat of Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus) within a Highly Urbanized Estuary

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2017
There is growing awareness of underwater noise in a variety of marine habitats, and how such noise may adversely affect marine species. This is of particular concern for acoustically-specialized species, such as dolphins.

Thin broadband noise absorption through acoustic reactance control by electro-mechanical coupling without sensor.

open access: yesJournal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2014
Broadband noise with profound low-frequency profile is prevalent and difficult to be controlled mechanically. This study demonstrates effective broadband sound absorption by reducing the mechanical reactance of a loudspeaker using a shunt circuit through

An Energy Focusing Flexible and Lightweight Acoustic Metamaterial for Enhanced Ultrasound Power Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible and lightweight acoustic metamaterial composed of air cavities encased in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is introduced to enhance ultrasound power transfer. The metamaterial leverages the strong reflectivity of air cavity boundaries to concentrate incoming ultrasound, thereby improving the performance of piezoelectric energy harvesters ...

Beyond Earth: Resilience of Quasi‐2D Perovskite Solar Cells in Space

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In the article (DOI: 10.1002/adma.202520433), Christoph Putz and co‐workers demonstrate rigid quasi‐2D perovskite solar cells operating in low Earth orbit, delivering stable power for more than 100 days under real‐space conditions. In‐orbit performance is correlated with extensive ground‐based thermal and proton‐irradiation studies on rigid and ...
