High-fidelity, broadband stimulated-Brillouin-scattering-based slow light using fast noise modulation

open access: yes, 2010
We demonstrate a 5-GHz-broadband tunable slow-light device based on stimulated Brillouin scattering in a standard highly-nonlinear optical fiber pumped by a noise-current-modulated laser beam. The noise modulation waveform uses an optimized pseudo-random

Patterning of Lead Halide Perovskite Device Stacks on CMOS Readout Using Selective Microfabrication Protocols

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We present a microfabrication and integration strategy for lead halide perovskite photodetectors on electronic readouts. Standard photolithography, aqueous processing, selective transparent electrode etching, and plasma‐assisted pixel isolation enable precise monolithic integration of patterned 400 × 400 perovskite microphotodetector arrays on a CMOS ...

Chiral Metal Halide Perovskites for Spin‐Polarized Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Chiral metal–halide perovskites offer a route to circularly polarized light without external polarizers. This Perspective compares two spin‐light emitting diode concepts: intrinsically chiral emissive layers and chiral spin‐filter interlayers that inject spin‐polarized carriers into efficient achiral emitters.

An Atomic‐Level Bimetallic MOF Platform Overcoming the Stability‐Performance Tradeoff for Laser Propulsion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces an atomic‐level engineered bimetallic MOF Platform that resolves the inherent trade‐off between environmental stability and propulsion efficiency. By integrating robust Fe‐O bonds for hydrolysis resistance and enabling d‐orbital charge transfer (Fe3+→Cu2+) for enhanced photothermal conversion, the design achieves a highly durable ...

Some observations about the components of transonic fan noise from narrow-band spectral analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
Qualitative and quantitative spectral analyses are presented that give the broadband-noise, discrete-tone, and multiple-tone properties of the noise generated by a full-scale high-bypass single-stage axial-flow transonic fan (fan B, NASA Quiet Engine ...

Results of the 1986 NASA/FAA/DFVLR main rotor test entry in the German-Dutch wind tunnel (DNW) [PDF]

open access: yes
An acoustics test of a 40%-scale MBB BO-105 helicopter main rotor was conducted in the Deutsch-Niederlandischer Windkanal (DNW). The research, directed by NASA Langley Research Center, concentrated on the generation and radiation of broadband noise and ...
