Internal Structure, Kinematics, and Prehistory of Frozen Debris Lobe‐A (FDL‐A), Brooks Range, Alaska

open access: yesPermafrost and Periglacial Processes, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Frozen Debris Lobe‐A (FDL‐A)—one of hundreds of FDLs in the Brooks Range of northern Alaska—is a slow‐moving landslide in permafrost that has been the subject of research since 2008 due to its close proximity to the Dalton Highway. Here, we synthesize more than a decade's worth of climate and surface measurements of monitored FDLs, and the ...

Fonio (Digitaria exilis and Digitaria iburua) in Nigeria: Regional cultivation patterns, landrace diversity, and farmer knowledge for conserving a climate‐resilient indigenous cereal

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Fonio (Digitaria exilis and Digitaria iburua) cereals are valued for their drought resilience, adaptability to poor soils, and cultural importance. In Nigeria, where both species are cultivated, fonio has declined due to labor‐intensive processing, lower yields, and changing livelihood choices. By documenting 21 landraces (15 D. exilis and 6 D. iburua),

Do spatially targeted weed management strategies increase risk of herbicide resistance evolution?

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Spray‐buffers reduce the effect of detection inaccuracies in spot spraying. We found a trade‐off between short‐term weed population control efficacy and long‐term prevention of herbicide resistance evolution. Abstract Background Spatially targeted spraying is an alternative to broadcast herbicide application that reduces herbicide use by restricting ...
