Sustained Self‐Powered Real‐Time Vibration Monitoring Through Integrated Nonlinear Harvesting and Energy‐Aware Wireless Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A self‐powered vibration sensing platform integrates a quasi‐zero‐stiffness piezoelectric harvester, synchronized electric charge extraction, energy management, and wireless ADC acquisition. Ambient vibration is simultaneously harvested as energy and digitized as information, enabling sustained real‐time waveform monitoring without external power.

Programmable Flocks: Hierarchical Swarm Control via Dynamic Parameter Injection

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
We present a method for the control of robot swarms which allows the shaping and the translation of patterns of simple robots (“smart particles”), using two types of devices. These two types represent a hierarchy: a larger group of simple, oblivious robots (which we call the workers) that is governed by simple local attraction forces and a smaller ...

A Prospectus for Mobile Broadcasting Systems

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science, 2006
AbstractComputer messages are often broadcast over ethernets, and sent point-to-point between them: globally asynchronous, locally synchronous (GALS). This paradigm is captured here by a primitive calculus, MBS (mobile broadcasting systems). MBS processes talk in rooms by local broadcast, and walk between rooms at unspecified speeds.
