Drawing upon the Pullman slave jail in Lexington, Kentucky it emphasizes the role of race, violence, power and finance in expanding the domestic slave trade. It draws important attention to the capitalism of slavery in Kentucky.

I examine Katherine Dunham and Jack Cole’s influence on a generation of choreographers and Bob Fosse’s fusion of the dominant paradigms established by de Mille and Robbins.
