Encephalomalacia in a Flock of Broiler Breeder Hens

Avian Diseases, 1981
Incidence of vitamin E selenium-responsive disease problems in chickens has increased dramatically in recent years. In many instances, these problems have occurred even though adequate levels of vitamin E and selenium were present in the feed (3). Encephalomalacia usually occurs in young chickens between three and eight weeks of age.

Photoperiod and oviposition time in broiler breeders

British Poultry Science, 2004
1. Oviposition times were recorded for broiler breeder hens under 8-, 10-, 11-, 12-, 13-, 14- and 16-h photoperiods. 2. Mean oviposition time (MOT) was delayed relative to dawn by approximately 0.5 h for each 1-h increase in photoperiod up to 14 h, but was similar for 14- and 16-h photoperiods. However, the 0.5 h/h regression for the time when half the

Observations on swollen head syndrome in broiler and broiler breeder chickens

Veterinary Record, 1989
Chickens on 14 broiler breeder farms were examined at various times throughout their laying cycle. Antibodies to the turkey rhinotracheitis virus were common although they were not always accompanied by clinical signs of the swollen head syndrome. Ninety-nine broiler flocks were tested of which only 20 were serologically positive to the virus.

Feeding Broiler Breeders

The feeding of modern table-egg breeders does not require controlled feeding because, in general, the body ...
