Pasteurella multocida, the etiologic agent of fowl cholera, was isolated from six broiler flocks in Georgia during summer 1988. The flocks ranged in age from 20 to 46 days, represented four companies, and spanned a distance of 50 miles. Increased mortality and lameness were the clinical signs present in all affected flocks. Bacterial isolation and agar

The effect of various factors on the incidence of leg abnormalities, with particular reference to twisted leg, in broilers was studied. The incidence of twisted legs was influenced by strain and for males was twice that for females. There was also a higher incidence in cages than on litter with the type of cage floor having an effect: broilers reared ...

Transmissible proventriculitis in broilers
Avian Pathology, 2007This article reviews transmissible proventriculitis in poultry from 1971 to 2006. The disease is important in commercial broilers worldwide, resulting in reduced profits. The aetiology of this disease is unknown and different clinical presentations often result in a confused or complicated diagnosis.

SUMMARY A total of 3750 broiler chicks were reared on the floor in two experiments replicated 8-12 times. Rate of growth, feed efficiency, mortality, and coccidial lesions were investigated comparing two anticoccidial agents and a negative control group. Lesion scores (severity of 1-4) were determined on sacrificed chicks at 3/2 and 7 weeks of age.

Recycling of fungal treated broiler droppings in broiler mash
Agricultural Wastes, 1986Broiler poultry droppings (PD) were solid-state fermented with Fusarium and Pleurotus fungi under controlled and room temperature conditions. Fungal fermentation, as well as reducing the crude fibre and available carbohydrates, resulted in the reduction of uric acid from 7·0% in untreated PD to around 1·0%.

1. Morphological development of the heart in fast-growing, meat-type fowl of both sexes was studied. 2. In 4 experiments, fowl were weighed, killed and hearts were dissected at 0, 20, 34, and 48th d of age. Heart weight (HW), length (HL), diameter (HD), and thickness of the right ventricular wall (RVW) and left ventricular wall (LVW) were determined. 3.

CIRCULATION FANS AND BROILER WELFARE IN COMMERCIAL BROILER HOUSES
2022Footpad dermatitis (FPD) is a welfare concern in broiler houses today that is often caused by inadequate management of living conditions. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of high-capacity circulation fans on house litter moisture, temperature, relative humidity, noise volume, and broiler body weight, FPD prevalence and severity ...
