The accumulated water inside the bromeliad leaf rosette is a microhabitat for several animal and plant species. In this study, the associated fauna of bromeliad Vriesea inflata was analyzed related to seasons, bromeliad height in relation to the ground ...

The height at which epiphytic bromeliads are found affects the invertebrate community composition within them. The size of epiphytic bromeliads is positively correlated with species richness of both aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates. Whether bromeliads were found in primary or secondary forest did not have a significant effect on the community of ...

Forest type influence on Heliconia‐dipteran interaction networks
Responses to forest type depended on the developmental stage of dipterans. Bract traits and forest type influenced larval abundance, but forest type had no impact on adult alpha and beta diversity. Heliconia‐dipteran interaction networks showed a nested pattern for both forest types.

The Pressure Is On – Epiphyte Water-Relations Altered Under Elevated CO2 [PDF]
Vascular epiphytes are a major biomass component of forests across the globe and they contribute to 9% of global vascular plant diversity. To improve our understanding of the whole-plant response of epiphytes to future climate change, we investigated for

Summary In tropical mountains, surviving temperature extremes demands finely tuned strategies. We investigated how populations of the bromeliad Pitcairnia flammea across a 2200 m elevational gradient balance genetic canalization and plasticity, and whether thermal strategies are coordinated between seeds and leaves.
