Re-evaluation of the Amazonian Hylaeaicum (Bromeliaceae: Bromelioideae) based on neglected morphological traits and molecular evidence

, 2021
Generic status for the Amazonian Hylaeaicum is proposed within the Aechmea alliance, excluding it from the “Nidularioid complex” in general and from Neoregelia in particular. The monophyly of this new genus is supported by molecular phylogenetic analyses.

Leaf structure of Bromelia and its significance for the evolution of Bromelioideae (Bromeliaceae)

Plant Systematics and Evolution, 2011
This study investigated the leaf structure of Bromelia and its importance for understanding the evolution of Bromelioideae (Bromeliaceae). Because of the scarcity of informative molecular characters in Bromeliaceae, this study evaluates the relevance of anatomical characters for the taxonomy and phylogeny of Bromelia and the subfamily Bromelioideae ...

Embryo and endosperm development in Billbergia nutans H. Wendl. ex Regel (Bromelioideae - Bromeliaceae) and its implications for the embryonomy of Bromeliaceae

, 2021
The proposition of patterns, types, and variations for embryogenic events is one of the objectives of embryonomy. Bromeliaceae is a diverse neotropical plant family for which this approach has been ambiguously and rarely discussed in detail.

Morphological Phylogenetics of Quesnelia (Bromeliaceae, Bromelioideae)

Systematic Botany, 2009
The genus Quesnelia presently includes 18 species, which occur mainly near the east coast of Brazil from the states of Rio de Janeiro to Bahia. The genus has been divided into two subgenera, Quesnelia and Billbergiopsis. However, its generic and subgeneric delimitation is artificial: in several classifications proposed in the family, different ...

Nomenclatural notes on Billbergia meyeri (Bromeliaceae: Bromelioideae)

In this work, we propose the second-step lectotypification of the name Billbergia meyeri and the lectotypification of the name Billbergia leucantha. We also discuss the geographic distribution of Billbergia meyeri.
