PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Crystal structure of 4-amino-1-(4-methylbenzyl)pyridinium bromide

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2014
The title molecular salt, C13H15N2+·Br−, crystallized with two independent ion pairs (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. In the cations, the planes of the pyridine and benzene rings are inclined to one another by 79.32 (8) and 82.30 (10)° in ion pairs A ...

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Revisiting the Kinetics and Mechanism of Bromate-Bromide Reaction

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2001
The bromate-bromide reaction was investigated in an acidity range not studied yet. The reaction was followed at the Br2/Br3- isosbestic point (lambda = 446 nm).

Crystal structure of {2-[({2-[(2-aminoethyl)amino]ethyl}imino)methyl]phenolato}aquacopper(II) bromide

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2014
In the mononuclear copper(II) title complex, [Cu(C11H16N3O)(H2O)]Br, the CuII atom is coordinated by one O and three N atoms of the Schiff base ligand that forms together with one water molecule a slightly distorted [CuN3O2] square-pyramidal polyhedron ...

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Crystal structures of dibromido{N-[(pyridin-2-yl-κN)methylidene]picolinohydrazide-κ2N′,O}cadmium methanol monosolvate and diiodido{N-[(pyridin-2-yl-κN)methylidene]picolinohydrazide-κ2N′,O}cadmium

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2017
The title compounds, [CdBr2(C12H10N4O)]·CH3OH, (I), and [CdI2(C12H10N4O)], (II), are cadmium bromide and cadmium iodide complexes of the ligand (E)-N′-(pyridin-2-ylmethylene)picolinohydrazide. Complex (I) crystallizes as the methanol monosolvate. In both

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Ring Opening Reactions through C-O Bond Cleavage Uniquely Adding Chemical Functionality to Boron Subphthalocyanine

open access: yesMolecules, 2015
We are reporting the unexpected reaction between bromo-boron subphthalocyanine (Br-BsubPc) and THF, 1,4-dioxane or γ-butyrolactone that results in the ring opening of the solvent and its addition into the BsubPc moiety.
