Physical methods for soil disinfestation in intensive agriculture: Old methods and new approaches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Physical soil disinfestation is worldwide mainly applied in protected cropping systems or in small-scale intensive field crops. Continuous cropping of monocultures or different host plants for the same pest or pathogen often leads to heavily infested ...

2-Nitroanilinium bromide [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2011
The title compound, C(6)H(7)N(2)O(2) (+)·Br(-), is isomorphous with 2-nitro-anilinium chloride and contains an characteristic intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond, forming an S(6) motif. Inter-molecular N-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds occur in the crystal structure. Two zigzag chains of C(2) (1)(4) motifs extend along the b-axis direction.

Decreased Serum 5‐HT: Clinical Correlates and Regulatory Role in NMJ of MG

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Although 5‐Hydroxytryptamine (5‐HT) indirectly stimulates muscle contraction and participates in regulating Acetylcholine receptor (AChR) cluster homeostasis in cellular, animal, and clinical studies, evidence regarding its potential to modulate muscle contraction in myasthenia gravis (MG) remains limited.

Unlocking the Power of Quercetin‐Encapsulated Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles: A Multifunctional Approach to Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNs) are investigated for bone regeneration given their remarkable structural and functional properties. MBGNs are functionalized with Mn and Cu and incorporated with quercetin, a natural flavonoid exhibiting antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.

Unique Performance Considerations for Printable Organic Semiconductor and Perovskite Radiation Detectors: Toward Consensus on Best Practice Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...

Transition on the entropic elasticity of DNA induced by intercalating molecules

open access: yes, 2007
We use optical tweezers to perform stretching experiments on DNA molecules when interacting with the drugs daunomycin and ethidium bromide, which intercalate the DNA molecule.

Non-close-packed breath figures via ion-partitioning-mediated self-assembly [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We report a one-step method of forming non-close-packed (NCP) pore arrays of micro- and sub-micropores using chloroform-based solutions of polystyrene acidified with hydrogen bromide for breath figure (BF) patterning.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Expanding the Chemistry of Actinide Metallocene Bromides. Synthesis, Properties and Molecular Structures of the Tetravalent and Trivalent Uranium Bromide Complexes: (C5Me4R)2UBr2, (C5Me4R)2U(O-2,6-iPr2C6H3)(Br), and [K(THF)][(C5Me4R)2UBr2] (R = Me, Et)

open access: yesInorganics, 2016
The organometallic uranium species (C5Me4R)2UBr2 (R = Me, Et) were obtained by treating their chloride analogues (C5Me4R)2UCl2 (R = Me, Et) with Me3SiBr. Treatment of (C5Me4R)2UCl2 and (C5Me4R)2UBr2 (R = Me, Et) with K(O-2,6-iPr2C6H3) afforded the halide

Substrate-specific clades of active marine methylotrophs associated with a phytoplankton bloom in a temperate coastal environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Marine microorganisms that consume one-carbon (C1) compounds are poorly described, despite their impact on global climate via an influence on aquatic and atmospheric chemistry.
