Bronchial Artery Embolization for Hemoptysis [PDF]

open access: yesSeminars in Interventional Radiology, 2011
Bronchial artery angiography with embolization has become a mainstay in the treatment of hemoptysis. Major complications are rare and immediate clinical success defined as cessation of hemorrhage ranges in most series from 85% to 100%, although recurrence of hemorrhage ranges from 10% to 33%.

Extreme recurrent massive hemoptysis in a cystic fibrosis patient requiring 22 separate embolization procedures prior to lung transplantation: A case report

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2019
While bronchial artery embolization is an established, safe, and effective treatment for massive hemoptysis from a variety of causes including cystic fibrosis, patients rarely require more than 2 angiography and embolization treatments during their ...

Proximal pulmonary artery embolization for recurrent hemoptysis after bronchial artery embolization

open access: yesBaylor University Medical Center Proceedings, 2021
Proximal pulmonary artery (PA) embolization is a dramatic interventional radiology procedure performed to control recurrent, life-threatening hemoptysis. Distal PA embolization procedures are commonly performed, and preoperative proximal PA embolization procedures have been reported, but to the best of our knowledge there has not been a reported case ...

Fragmentation of microspheres after bronchial artery injection: a case report and review of the literature

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2021
Background Massive hemoptysis due to aspergilloma is a rare but life-threatening complication. Bronchial artery embolization is recommended as a definitive treatment for massive hemoptysis.
