Bronchial provocation tests with pharmacological agents
Clinical Reviews in Allergy, 1990Inhalation challenge of pharmacologic agents to categorize the degree of bronchial hyperresponsiveness is a. powerful tool when appropriate standardization and data interpretation are duly considered. Investigations of both methodology and clinical utility have extended our understanding of many diseases that share bronchial hyperresponsiveness as a ...

Reproducibility of Standardized Bronchial Allergen Provocation Test
Allergy, 1986Standardized bronchial allergen provocation was performed twice (with an interval of median 14 days (range 14‐44)) in 19 extrinsic, well‐defined asthmatic patients to study the reproducibility of the bronchial response. Smoking and medications were strictly withheld prior to the provocation.

1987
More and more investigators are performing bronchial inhalation challenge procedures to provide answers regarding experimental and clinical considerations in normals and in asthmatic subjects. Inhalation challenges have been compared to other provocative challenges such as exercise or the inhalation of cold air.

In VivoDiagnostic Procedures: Skin Testing, Nasal Provocation, and Bronchial Provocation
Methods, 1997In vivo challenge procedures can be very useful in the analysis of allergic symptoms. Skin testing has a high degree of sensitivity and specificity for determining antigens that cause allergic disease. However, positive skin tests do not necessarily indicate that a specific allergen causes symptoms specific for a certain organ.

[Bronchial provocation test in bronchial asthma].
Rinsho byori. The Japanese journal of clinical pathology, 1993Methacholine provocation test, bronchial reversibility test, aspirin inhalation test, and cough provocation test have been performed at our institute to examine pathophysiology and to diagnose bronchial diseases. Bronchial responsiveness to methacholine correlated to baseline pulmonary functions, especially to % predicted value of forced expiratory ...

Mediators in Bronchial Provocation Tests
1993Three major pathogenetic components characterize bronchial asthma: (1) atopy, i.e., increased levels of IgE and increased degranulation of mast cells and basophils triggered by IgE-mediated or non-IgE-mediated stimuli; (2) allergic inflammation, which damages to varying extents the bronchial wall components (epithelium, vessels, submucosal glands ...

Bronchial provocation test and military aptitude
Clinical Problems, 2018Background: Evaluation of fitness for military duty is sometimes complex. Respiratory diseases such as asthma may affect individuals9 fitness for military service. In order to assess fitness for military service in subjects with asthma symptoms, objective and reliable tests are needed.

Pulmonary Function Testing and Bronchial Provocation
2002Pulmonologists, allergists, and respiratory physiologists measure lung function through a series of tests called pulmonary function tests (PFTs). These tests determine the gas exchange properties of the lung, thereby allowing us to decide if disease (ie, obstructive or restrictive lung disease) is present. This chapter focuses on several key aspects of
