Simultaneous intratracheal administration of surfactant and budesonide in the prevention of bronchopulmonary dysplasia in the treatment of respiratory distress syndrome in premature infants [PDF]
Background: Premature birth is an important issue in developing and developed countries. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of budesonide and surfactant in the treatment of respiratory distress syndrome and the prevention of ...

The Fibroblast Growth Factor signaling pathway
The signaling component of the mammalian Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF) family is comprised of eighteen secreted proteins that interact with four signaling tyrosine kinase FGF receptors (FGFRs). Interaction of FGF ligands with their signaling receptors is regulated by protein or proteoglycan cofactors and by extracellular binding proteins.

Left Sided Oesophageal Lung: A Diagnostic Challenge [PDF]
Bronchopulmonary foregut malformations (BPFMs) include a wide variety of malformations such as intralobar or extralobar pulmonary sequestration, foregut duplication cysts, and diverticula of the gastrointestinal or pulmonary tree (Srikanth et al., 1992).

A rare case of esophageal lung in a neonate
We report a rare case of esophageal lung in a neonate who presented with repeated chest infections and respiratory distress. Chest radiograph revealed increased opacification of the right lung with reduced lung volume and air bronchograms.

Transthoracic Drainage of an Intrapulmonary Bronchogenic Cyst With an Intercostal Catheter
We present the case of an 84‐year‐old female with a large intrapulmonary bronchogenic cyst who presented with progressive dyspnoea, haemoptysis, and fevers. Due to relative contraindications for surgery, an ultrasound‐guided percutaneous intercostal catheter insertion with administration of fibrinolytic and mucolytic therapy was performed to evacuate ...

Pulmonary Sequestration: Early Diagnosis and Management
Intralobar sequestration is characterized by aberrant formation of nonfunctional lung tissue that has no communication with the bronchial tree and receives systemic arterial blood supply. Failure of earlier diagnosis can lead to recurrent pneumonia, failure to thrive, multiple hospital admissions, and more morbidity.

Gastric duplication cyst as a differential for an intra-thoracic cystic mass
We report a case of a neonate who presented with respiratory distress initially managed for a suspected pneumothorax before being transferred to a tertiary centre where he had a thoracotomy.

3 year old with chronic wet cough : Intralobar Bronchopulmonary sequestration [PDF]
Bronchopulmonary sequestration (BPS) is a rare congenital foregut anomaly of the lung, consisting of nonfunctioning primitive tissue that does not communicate with the healthy tracheobronchial tree.

Structural and perfusion magnetic resonance imaging of congenital lung malformations [PDF]
BACKGROUND A radiation-free advanced imaging modality is desirable for investigating congenital thoracic malformations in young children. OBJECTIVE To describe magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of congenital bronchopulmonary foregut ...

Abstract In the marsupial gray short‐tailed opossum (Monodelphis domestica), the majority of lung development, including the maturation of pulmonary vasculature, takes place in ventilated functioning state during the postnatal period. The current study uses X‐ray computed tomography (μCT) to three‐dimensionally reconstruct the vascular trees of the ...
