Tracheal Extramedullary Plasmacytoma Causing Near‐Complete Airway Obstruction in an HIV‐Positive Man: A Case Report and Brief Literature Review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT A 53‐year‐old HIV‐positive man presented with progressive dyspnea, hoarseness, and near‐complete tracheal obstruction. Computed tomography and rigid bronchoscopy identified a > 90% obstructing tracheal mass. Histopathology with immunohistochemistry confirmed extramedullary plasmacytoma.

When Foreign Body Aspiration Is Not the Whole Story: Reconsidering Imaging Escalation in Infants With Apparent Tension Pneumothorax

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT In infants with suspected foreign body aspiration and radiographic tension pneumothorax, failure to improve after appropriate decompression should prompt immediate diagnostic reconsideration. Early CT or advanced imaging may identify congenital lung anomalies such as CPAM, particularly when positive‐pressure ventilation creates misleading ...

A Case of Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension and Pregnancy, Managed With Pulmonary Endarterectomy: Clinical Challenges, Case Report, and Literature Review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a rare, potentially curable form of pulmonary hypertension, with limited data in pregnancy. We describe a 37‐year‐old woman with progressive dyspnea, back pain, and cough, whose evaluation revealed severe right ventricular enlargement, high pulmonary pressures, and extensive V/Q ...

Automated Centerline Extraction From Meshed Vascular Models

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 42, Issue 6, June 2026.
A method to extract centerlines from image‐based vascular meshes is presented, which automatically identifies vascular endpoints and traces centerlines by solving Eikonal equations. Compared to a widely used method, the proposed approach requires less user interaction and demonstrates better robustness on models that contain segmentation artifacts from
