Adjunctive Therapy With a Perna canaliculus and Euphausia superba Extract (EAB‐277TM) for Clinical Signs of Tracheal Collapse in Dogs: A Prospective, Randomized and Placebo‐Controlled Exploratory Trial

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Key findings: Adjunctive EAB‐277TM therapy may enhance airway health with the greatest improvements observed on Day 14 by improving exercise tolerance and reducing dynamic tracheal collapse. ABSTRACT Background Tracheal collapse is a common canine respiratory disease characterized by dorsoventral cartilage flattening, airway lumen narrowing and ...

Intraoperative Contrast‐Enhanced Ultrasonography (Io‐CEUS) to Detect Missed Lung Nodules During Robot‐Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 17, September 2026.
During robotic thoracic surgery, Intraoperative Ultrasound is the surgeon's finger to detect small nodule. ABSTRACT Herein, we reported the use of Intraoperative‐Contrast Enhanced Ultrasonography (Io‐CEUS) during Robotic Assisted Thoracic Surgery (RATS) for identification of malignant lung nodule that was missed during previous operation. Pre‐operative

Relationship Between Nursing Diagnoses, Mortality and Length of Stay in the ICU: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesNursing in Critical Care, Volume 31, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Nursing process is a systematic, problem‐solving framework structuring clinical reasoning and patient‐centred care; within it, Nursing Diagnoses (ND) link clinical assessment to planning and implementing individualised interventions.

Early diagnosis of early stage lung cancer

open access: yesZdravniški Vestnik, 2005
Background: For the detection of premalignant changes of bronchial mucosa and early stages of lung cancer frequent chest X-ray, spiral low dose computed tomography, fluorescence bronchoscopy, sputum cytology (also with automated systems) with genetic and

A Foundation Model Based CT Biomarker for Non‐Invasive Prediction of Response to Neoadjuvant Immunochemotherapy in Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 48, 28 August 2026.
This study introduces a foundation model‐based biomarker for risk stratification of pathological response in non‐small cell lung cancer. A Vision Mamba super‐resolution model standardizes heterogeneous CT images. A multi‐task Swin Transformer then fine‐tunes a pre‐trained lung foundation model to jointly optimize tumor segmentation and response ...

Flexible Thin‐Film Heater Composed of Laser‐Induced Graphene and Poly(D, L‐Lactic Acid) with Electro‐ and Photo‐Thermal Properties toward Cancer Thermotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 12, Issue 16, 24 August 2026.
This study introduces a thin‐film‐type heat‐generating device that uses laser induced graphene (LIG) on a poly(D, L‐lactic) acid film, which realizes both resistance heating by direct current application and photothermal conversion heating by near‐infrared light irradiation.

Regional gas exchange evaluation during ex vivo lung perfusion in a swine model of localized lung dysfunction

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 9, Issue 8, Page 1517-1526, August 2026.
Abstract Background Ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) allows the evaluation of lungs that do not meet standard transplantation criteria. Current procedures do not permit the identification of regional functional deficits. We investigated the feasibility of assessing lobar gas exchange during EVLP in a swine model.

An Empty Stomach or False Reassurance? Aspiration Pneumonitis Despite Prolonged Preoperative Fasting in a Low‐Risk Patient

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT A healthy 38 year‐old male developed severe bronchospasm and aspiration pneumonitis during anesthesia induction despite 15‐h preoperative fasting. Imaging revealed bilateral pulmonary consolidations and gastric distension. This case visually highlights that prolonged fasting paradoxically fails to guarantee gastric emptiness, emphasizing the ...

Remimazolam for Zephyr Endobronchial Valve Placement in a Severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patient: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Remimazolam‐based general anesthesia provided stable hemodynamics and rapid, clear emergence in a patient with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease undergoing Zephyr endobronchial valve placement, suggesting that remimazolam may be a feasible anesthetic option for this procedure in patients with limited cardiopulmonary reserve.
