GCC2 in Small Extracellular Vesicles as a Diagnostic and Prognostic Biomarker of Early‐Stage Lung Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
Plasma sEV‐GCC2 enables early detection and prognostic stratification of lung adenocarcinoma. This multicenter study integrates biomarker validation with functional evidence, supporting sEV‐GCC2 as a clinically relevant biomarker. ABSTRACT Emerging evidence suggests that GRIP and coiled‐coil domain‐containing two enriched small extracellular vesicles ...

Torque Teno Virus in Bronchoalveolar Lavage Fluid of Hematological Patients and Association With Pathogens

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Torque teno virus (TTV) replication is tightly modulated by the host immune response. As such, TTV viremia has been investigated as a biomarker of immune competence for monitoring the risks of allograft rejection and opportunistic infections in solid organ transplant recipients.

Laryngeal Transplantation in Cancer Patients: Evaluation of Surgical Outcomes and Functional Recovery

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
Our pilot clinical study in laryngeal transplantation achieved divergent outcomes: two cases maintained functional speech/swallowing with around 2 year graft survival and have been ongoing, while two succumbed to sepsis (10mo) and hemorrhagic recurrence (11mo).

Diffuse Large B‐Cell Lymphoma With Pulmonary and Gastric Involvement Mimicking Nontuberculous Mycobacterial Lung Disease

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
An 81‐year‐old man presented with multiple bilateral pulmonary nodules and detection of Mycobacterium intracellulare, initially suggesting nontuberculous mycobacterial lung disease. However, heterogeneous radiological changes and progressive enlargement of selected nodules led to surgical lung biopsy, which revealed diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma with ...

EUS‐B FNA of Enlarged Left Adrenal Gland in Lung Cancer—Case Series

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
Our case series illustrates the use of EUS‐B FNA of LAG for diagnosis, staging and tissue acquisition in lung cancer. We highlight learning points, discuss risks and benefits and advocate for broader integration into clinical practice. ABSTRACT Combined endobronchial and endoscopic ultrasound via bronchoscope (EBUS EUS‐B) is an established method for ...

Epigenetic Dysregulation of the NKX2‐1/SPDEF Axis Drives Persistent Goblet Cell Differentiation and Epithelial Barrier Dysfunction in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

open access: yesRespirology, Volume 31, Issue 5, Page 484-497, May 2026.
This study investigated airway epithelial barrier dysfunction persistence in ex‐smokers with COPD and underlying mechanisms using single‐cell RNA and ATAC sequencing. Epigenetic NKX2‐1/SPDEF dysregulation maintains goblet cell hyperplasia and barrier dysfunction despite long‐term smoking cessation.

Diagnostic Investigation of Two Cases of Oslerus osleri Infection in Dogs: Microscopic Challenges and Molecular Characterisation

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
Two cases of young dogs with chronic cough were investigated, one with bronchoalveolar lavage for cytology, the other with endoscopic biopsy for histopathology. DNA was extracted from stained smears and from formalin paraffin‐embedded blocs, six primer pairs spanning the ribosomal RNA gene of O.
