Ancient bronze disks, decorations and calendars [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
Recently, it was published that some ancient bronze disks could had been calendars, that is, that their decorations had this function. Here I am discussing an example, the disk of the Trundholm Sun Chariot, proposing a new interpretation of it, giving a calendar of 360 days. Some geometric diagrams concerning the decoration layout are also proposed.

Interstitial gas and density-segregation in vertically-vibrated granular media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We report experimental studies of the effect of interstitial gas on mass-density-segregation in a vertically-vibrated mixture of equal-sized bronze and glass spheres. Sufficiently strong vibration in the presence of interstitial gas induces vertical segregation into sharply separated bronze and glass layers.

Ultrafast Collective Dynamics in the Charge-Density-Wave Conductor K$_{0.3}$MoO$_{3}$ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Low-energy coherent charge-density wave excitations are investigated in blue bronze (K$_{0.3}$MoO$_{3}$) and red bronze (K$_{0.33}$MoO$_{3}$) by femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy. A linear gapless, acoustic-like dispersion relation is observed for the transverse phasons with a pronounced anisotropy in K$_{0.33}$MoO$_{3}$.

Soliton Analysis of the Electro-Optical Response of Blue Bronze [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In recent measurements on the charge-density-wave (CDW) conductor blue bronze (K0.3MoO3), the electro-transmittance and electro-reflectance spectra were searched for intragap states that could be associated with solitons created by injection of electrons into the CDW at the current contacts [Eur. Phys. J. B 16, 295 (2000); ibid 35, 233 (2003)]. In this
