233 nm far‐UV‐C radiation for biofilm inactivation

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Based on tests to assess biofilm formation potential (crystal violet staining, color of colonies grown on Congo red agar and calcofluor agar), three bacterial genera/species/strains (Staphylococcus (S.) epidermidis, S. aureus, Pseudomonas (P.) aeruginosa) were selected for analysis of their biofilm matrix composition.

Modular Metalloprotein Nanowires With Semiconductor‐Scale Conductivity and Tunable Redox Behavior

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Conductive protein nanowires are built by aligning three different metalloproteins along an ultrastable filament scaffold. The resulting micrometer‐length nanowires reach conductivities of 1.75 S cm−1. Redox behavior is set by the metalloprotein chosen, while conductivity is governed by the spacing the scaffold imposes, making both independently ...

An Intelligent Wound Dressing Platform Based on Natural pH‐Sensors From Syzygium cumini

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 35, September 15, 2026.
This study presents a dual‐functionality wound dressing platform based on an alginate–hyaluronate matrix integrated with Syzygium cumini extract. The smart film acts as a sensitive, reversible pH‐sensor for real‐time infection monitoring and a structural plasticizer that enhances mechanical conformability.

One‐Step Curcumin‐Mediated Multiphoton Lithography for Bioactive 3D Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 76, 21 September 2026.
Curcumin‐mediated multiphoton lithography enables one‐step fabrication of highly architected complex gelatin methacryloyl scaffolds by exploiting curcumin as a multifunctional bioactive photoinitiator. The resulting 3D structures support mesenchymal stem cell adhesion, proliferation, and migration, while exhibiting dual antibacterial activity through ...

Dual‐Layer Conducting and Redox Polymer Bioanodes for Synergistic Enhancement of Microbial Extracellular Electron Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 76, 21 September 2026.
A hybrid PEDOT/Fc‐LPEI conducting/redox polymer bioanode synergistically improves microbial extracellular electron transfer (EET) in Shewanella oneidensis MR‐1. The dual‐layer interface delivers 18‐fold higher current output and 27‐fold greater charge collected than bare carbon felt, highlighting an effective strategy for high‐performance ...

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 51, 11 September 2026.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.
