Multivariate Incomplete Information in the Mixture Model of Contests

open access: yesThe RAND Journal of Economics, Volume 56, Issue 4, Page 607-624, Winter 2025.
ABSTRACT A general mixture model of contests is introduced, combining stochastic performance and multivariate incomplete information. Performance is determined by a mixture distribution with endogenous weights on a good and bad distribution, respectively.

An Elementary Proof of The 2-Dimensional Version of The Brouwer Fixed Point Theorem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We give an elementary proof of the 2-dimensional version of the Brouwer fixed point theorem. The proof can be extended to the n-dimensional version naturally.

Effective Choice and Boundedness Principles in Computable Analysis

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper we study a new approach to classify mathematical theorems according to their computational content. Basically, we are asking the question which theorems can be continuously or computably transferred into each other?

Cost‐Effectiveness Analysis of Risky Health Interventions: Moving Beyond Risk Neutrality

open access: yesRatio, Volume 38, Issue 4, Page 219-227, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Cost‐effectiveness analysis for health interventions is traditionally conducted in a risk‐neutral way, insensitive to risk attitudes in the population, which are potentially non‐neutral. While the standard outcome metric of quality‐adjusted life years (QALYs) aims to be deferential to people's valuations of health states, cost‐effectiveness ...

A New Conservative Difference Scheme for the General Rosenau-RLW Equation

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2010
A new conservative finite difference scheme is presented for an initial-boundary value problem of the general Rosenau-RLW equation. Existence of its difference solutions are proved by Brouwer fixed point theorem.

Existence of a non‐stationary equilibrium in search‐and‐matching models: TU and NTU

open access: yesTheoretical Economics, Volume 20, Issue 4, Page 1411-1460, November 2025.
This paper proves the existence of a non‐stationary equilibrium in the canonical search‐and‐matching model with heterogeneous agents. Non‐stationarity entails that the number and characteristics of unmatched agents evolve endogenously over time.

Early Postnatal Infection With Human Cytomegalovirus Has Long‐Term Consequences on Brain Structure of Former Preterm Born Children

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2025.
Cortical surface analyses of former preterm‐born children with (PT hCMV+) and without (PT hCMV−) early postnatal human Cytomegalovirus (hCMV) infection at ∼13 years of age. Note the strong effect of prematurity when compared to full‐term‐born children (FT, top), but the independent and even more widespread effect of HCMV infection (bottom).

Persistence of fixed points under rigid perturbations of maps

open access: yes, 2014
Let $f:S^1\times [0,1]\to S^1\times [0,1]$ be a real-analytic annulus diffeomorphism which is homotopic to the identity map and preserves an area form.

Advancing causal inference in ecology: Pathways for biodiversity change detection and attribution

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 10, Page 2276-2304, October 2025.
Abstract Understanding the causes of biodiversity change is essential for addressing environmental challenges. While causal attribution has advanced in other fields, ecologists remain cautious about causal claims or misinterpret predictive models as causal.

KKM implies Hahn-Banach

open access: yesResults in Nonlinear Analysis, 2019
Our title means that the Knaster-Kuratowski Mazurkiewicz theorem in 1929 implies the Hahn-Banach theorem. This theorem originated from Hahn in 1926 and Banach in 1929 is of basic importance in the analysis of problems concerning the existence of ...
