Attitudes to possessions in emerging adults: Predictors of hoarding behaviours and beliefs

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Although hoarding symptoms are chronic and the average onset is late adolescence, younger cohorts have received little attention in research. Given the insidious symptom trajectory of hoarding and the unsatisfactory treatment outcomes in clinical groups, comprehensive research focusing on younger participants may reveal insights and ...

Three Brown Dwarfs Masquerading as High-redshift Galaxies in JWST Observations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report the spectroscopic identification of three brown dwarf candidates—o005_s41280, o006_s00089, and o006_s35616—discovered in RUBIES using James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) Near-Infrared Spectrograph PRISM/CLEAR spectroscopy.

TOI-2490b – the most eccentric brown dwarf transiting in the brown dwarf desert

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society
ABSTRACT We report the discovery of the most eccentric transiting brown dwarf in the brown dwarf desert, TOI-2490b. The brown dwarf desert is the lack of brown dwarfs around main-sequence stars within $\sim 3$ au and is thought to be caused by differences in formation mechanisms between a star and planet.

A century of theories of balancing selection

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Traits that affect organismal fitness are often highly genetically variable. This genetic variation is vital for populations to adapt to their environments, but it is also surprising given that nature – after all – ‘selects’ the best genotypes at the expense of those that fall short.

UNCOVER: JWST Spectroscopy of Three Cold Brown Dwarfs at Kiloparsec-scale Distances

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report JWST/NIRSpec spectra of three distant T-type brown dwarfs identified in the Ultradeep NIRSpec and NIRCam ObserVations before the Epoch of Reionization (UNCOVER) survey of the Abell 2744 lensing field.
