Integrated Postharvest Strategies for Management of Phytophthora Brown Rot of Citrus in the United States

2014
Brown rot caused by several species of Phytophthora is an economically important disease of citrus fruit. Crop losses may occur in the orchard or after harvest. Recently, brown rot has become a quarantine issue with some of California’s trading partners, and effective management programs are needed. The disease can be controlled with field applications

Scanning electron microscopy of bio‐fabricated Fe2O3 nanoparticles and their application to control brown rot of citrus

Microscopy Research and Technique, 2020
AbstractCitrus is the leading fruit crop of Pakistan and exported to different parts of the world. Due to suitable weather condition, this crop is affected by different biotic factors which seriously deteriorate its quality and quantity. During the months of November 2018 to January 2019, citrus brown rot symptoms were recurrently observed on sweet ...

HISTOPATHOLOGICAL STUDIES WITH ELECTRON MICROSCOPY (SEM & TEM) OF ALTERNARIA ALTERNATA, CAUSAL AGENT OF BROWN SPOT AND BLACK ROT DISEASES (AS POSTHARVEST DISEASES) ON CITRUS IN THE NORTH OF IRAN

Acta Horticulturae, 2010
Alternaria species cause two different diseases on citrus in the North of Iran: Alternaria brown spot of tangerines and Alternaria black rot of 'Navel' oranges. Alternaria black rot is also well known as postharvest disease on citrus. In this study infected tissues were collected from leaves, fruits and young stems of the plants.

Control and prevention of contact infection of brown rot disease with fosetyl-aluminium, and residue levels in post-harvest-treated citrus fruits

Pest Management Science, 1987
AbstractThe effect of fosetyl‐aluminium on the control and spread of brown rot disease Phytophthora citrophthora in post‐harvest citrus fruit was studied in laboratory and semi‐commercial experiments. Aqueous solutions of fosetyl‐aluminium at 5 to 10 g a.i. litre−1 controlled the fungus even when applied 3 days after inoculation at 17°C.

Diversity and Clonality in Populations of Phytophthora citrophthora and P. syringae Causing Brown Rot of Citrus in California

Phytopathology®
Phytophthora citrophthora and P. syringae are currently the primary causal organisms of brown rot of citrus fruits in California. To possibly find an explanation for the prevalence of the previously minor species P. syringae, we determined the population structures of both pathogens in California using next-generation sequencing and population ...

Regional Comparisons of Sensitivities of Phytophthora citrophthora and P. syringae Causing Citrus Brown Rot in California to Four New and Two Older Fungicides

Plant Disease
Isolates of the citrus brown rot pathogens Phytophthora citrophthora and P. syringae from the Inland Empire (IE) and Ventura Co. (VE) regions of southern California were evaluated for their sensitivity to ethaboxam, fluopicolide, mandipropamid, and oxathiapiprolin, and the previously published baselines that were generated for Central Valley (CV ...
