DNA‐Enzyme Hybrid Nanostructures: Functional Materials to Modulate Enzymatic Activity

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
DNA–enzyme hybrid nanostructures enable precise spatial and stoichiometric control over enzyme organization, offering a powerful platform to modulate catalytic activity. This review critically evaluates key mechanistic hypotheses, including proximity effects, microenvironment changes, confinement, and stabilization, as well as highlighting ...

Synthesis of Patchy Particles at Phase Boundaries

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
The various strategies employed for synthesizing complex multifunctional patchy particles are reviewed, with, as a guideline, the type of phase boundary (solid‐gas, liquid‐gas, solid‐liquid, and liquid‐liquid), that serves as the crucial ingredient for symmetry breaking.

FracSim: An R Package to Simulate Multifractional Lévy Motions

open access: yes
In this article a procedure is proposed to simulate fractional fields, which are non Gaussian counterpart of the fractional Brownian motion. These fields, called real harmonizable (multi)fractional Lévy motions, allow fixing the Hölder exponent at ...

Rapid and efficient quality control analysis of isolated mitochondria by interferometric light microscopy

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Mitochrial transplantation is a promising therapy to restore energy in damaged cells, but it lacks fast and reliable methods to assess mitochondrial quality before use. In this study, we used a label‐free imaging technique called interferometric light microscopy to rapidly measure the size and concentration of isolated mitochondria.

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.
