Fe4+ formation in brownmillerite CaAl0.5Fe0.5O2.5+δ

Materials Letters, 2003
A Mossbauer spectroscopy study of brownmillerite Ca2FeAlO5+δ, in combination with the structure refinement from X-ray powder diffraction data, showed that hyperstoichiometric oxygen incorporation into the lattice is accompanied with Fe4+ formation in the perovskite-like layers, which are built of oxygen–metal octahedra and preferably occupied by iron ...

3D Structure of Brownmillerite Ba1.95In2O4.9F0.1

3D Research, 2017
In this paper, the questions about location of fluorine atoms in the structure and the changes in the lengths of indium-oxygen bonds were resolved. The crystal structure of fluorine doped brownmillerite Ba1.95In2O4.9F0.1 was investigated. It was found that fluorine atoms are localized in tetrahedra [InO3F].

New Brownmillerite Solid Electrolytes

Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 1993
A series of new brownmillerite solid electrolytes of composition Ba 2 GdIn 1-x Ga x O 5 (x=0, 0.2, 0.4) have been synthesized and incorporated into small laboratory fuel cells, lonic conductivities for both the x=0.2 and 0.4 phases were measured and conductivities up to 5×10 -3 S cm -1 at 600 o C were observed.

Cation Ordering in Brownmillerite-Perovskite Intergrowth Structures

MRS Proceedings, 1992
AbstractBrownmillerite-perovskite intergrowths of the type m(A2B2O5)*n(ABO3), where m = 1 and n = 1, were investigated with respect to cation ordering. It was found that Sr31n2ZrO8, Sr31n2HfO8, Ba3Sc2TiO8 and Ba31n2TiO8 form in a disordered cubic structure, while Sr3Sc2ZrO8 and Ba3Sc2ZrO8 form an ordered cation arrangement.

Oxygen and fluorine doping in Sr2MnGaO5 brownmillerite

physica status solidi (a), 2004
Systematic study on crystal chemistry of Sr2MnGaO5+δ layered perovskites upon variation of anion stoichiometry and the Mn oxidation state (VMn) was performed. Starting from fully oxygenated Sr2MnGaO5.5 compound, the samples with +3 ≤ VMn ≤ +4 were prepared either by a reduction of oxygen content at controlled partial oxygen pressure or by a partial ...

A Mössbauer study on the hydration of brownmillerite (4CaO.A12O3.Fe2O3)

Cement and Concrete Research, 1973
Abstract The hydration of the iron-bearing phase of portland cement or brownmillerite, can be easily studied by Mossbauer-spectrometry, because a very significant difference exists between the spectra of anhydrous and hydrated brownmillerite. The Mossbauer spectrum of anhydrous brownmillerite shows a magnetic hyperfine structure and iron is present ...
