Generation of Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus (BRSV) from cDNA: BRSV NS2 Is Not Essential for Virus Replication in Tissue Culture, and the Human RSV Leader Region Acts as a Functional BRSV Genome Promoter [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1999
ABSTRACT In order to generate recombinant bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV), the genome of BRSV strain A51908, variant ATue51908, was cloned as cDNA. We provide here the sequence of the BRSV genome ends and of the entire L gene. This completes the sequence of the BRSV genome, which comprises a total of 15,140 nucleotides.

Mucosal Immunization with Live Recombinant Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus (BRSV) and Recombinant BRSV Lacking the Envelope Glycoprotein G Protects against Challenge with Wild-Type BRSV [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2002
ABSTRACTRecombinant bovine respiratory syncytial virus (rBRSV) and an rBRSV deletion mutant lacking the G gene (rBRSVΔG) were characterized in calves with respect to replication competence, attenuation, and protective efficacy as live-attenuated BRSV vaccines. Both recombinant viruses were safe and induced protection against a BRSV challenge infection.

Demonstration of Protection Provided by a Single Dose Modified Live BRSV Vaccine against Virulent BRSV Challenge

American Association of Bovine Practitioners Conference Proceedings, 2020
Bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) is an economically important cause of respiratory disease in cattle worldwide. The virus is an important respiratory pathogen in naïve cattle of all ages, but as with other respiratory syncytial viruses, it primarily affects young calves. The virus has also been implicated as one of the viral agents involved in
