Bio‐Orthogonally Crosslinked Supramolecular Polymer Bottlebrush Hydrogels for Long‐Term 3D Cell Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fibrous benzenetrispeptide (BTP) hydrogels, fabricated via strain‐promoted azide‐alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) crosslinking, form robust, bioinert networks. These hydrogels can support 3D cell culture, where cell viability and colony growth depend on the fiber content.

Evaluation of Different Best Management Practices for Erosion Control on Machine Operating Trails

open access: yesCroatian Journal of Forest Engineering, 2019
Ground-based mechanized forest operations often lead to increased runoff and soil loss on unbound forest roads and machine operating trails, which in turn can impede the technical trafficability of machines and cause negative impacts on the environment ...

Effect of Hydrogen Charging on the Mechanical Properties of High-Strength Copper-Base Alloys, Austenitic Stainless Steel AISI 321, Inconel 625 and Ferritic Steel 1.4511

open access: yesMetals
Hydrogen embrittlement (HE) poses the risk of premature failure for many metals, especially high-strength steels. Due to the utilization of hydrogen as an environmentally friendly energy source, efforts are made to improve the resistance to HE at ...

Proteins, Processing, and Properties of Adhesive Fluid Condensates Purified from Mussels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mussels exhibit an unmatched proficiency for adhering to wet surfaces in salty environments—a remarkable ability that could inspire new biomedical and technical glues. The fluid protein condensates used to form the underwater mussel glue are extracted, reconstituted and characterized with advanced spectroscopy and nanomechanical analysis, revealing ...

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...

Bio‐Inspired Magnetically Tunable Structural Colors from Elliptical Self‐Assembled Block Copolymer Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.
