Brushless and Switched Reluctance Drives
1991The machines covered in this chapter may be classified as electronically commutated motors. Brushless DC motors are related to classical DC and AC motors; switched reluctance motors are related to stepper motors. They all feature electronic switching of the stator currents, controlled by the position of the rotor, to give continuous motion.
