Undriven vibrations in brushless DC motors

2000 Asia-Pacific Magnetic Recording Conference. Digests of APMRC2000 on Mechanical and Manufacturing Aspects of HDD (Cat. No.00EX395), 2001
This paper investigates motor vibrations due to reluctance forces. Forcing frequencies caused by motor design, part geometries, and errors in assembly are tabulated for several popular pole/slot ratios. Motor torque and translational force fluctuations are found to exhibit a rich set of shapes and frequencies, especially when multiple defects occur ...

Sensorless PM brushless DC motor drives

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 1996
To control PM brushless DC motors, position and speed sensors are indispensable because the current should be controlled depending on the rotor position. However, these sensors are undesirable from standpoints of size, cost, maintenance, and reliability. There are different ways of approaching this problem, depending on the flux distribution. The paper

The design of brushless DC motor controller

2010 International Conference on Intelligent Control and Information Processing, 2010
An integrated drive circuits design of brushless DC motor based on A3936 was presented. The A3936 is grid drive integrated circuit of DMOS. It can make circuit design simple. The stabilization of system was enhanced for the use of Dual closed loops. Also protect circuits against low battery voltage, over current were include.

An investigation on brushless DC motor CAD

Proceedings of the 3rd World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation (Cat. No.00EX393), 2002
BLDC motors are widely used in industrial applications in the world, the design of the motor and its control circuits are related to each other, and it implies the complexity of BLDCM. A BLDC motor is a permanent magnet motor, the design methods are much different from that of traditional motors.

Performance calculation of brushless DC motor

2005 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2005
In this paper the performances of a tangentially magnetized brushless DC motor are calculated and tested. For the calculation, both circuit method and finite-element method (FEM) provided by commercial software Ansoft are used. With the circuit method, motor design and performance calculation can be performed.

Pole optimization of brushless DC motor

Conference Record of the 2004 IEEE Industry Applications Conference, 2004. 39th IAS Annual Meeting., 2004
For the tangentially magnetized brushless DC motor used for air compressor, the pole embrace and eccentricity are optimized with 2D FEM (finite element method) to decrease the torque ripple. For the pole embrace optimization, seven different pole arc angles are compared, and 60 /spl deg/ is considered as the best one.
