Perfect field oriented brushless DC motor
2001 Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37262), 2001The field oriented controlled brushless DC (BLDC) motor resembles the dynamic characteristics of a fully compensated DC motor. The torque developed from such drives is directly proportional to the armature current and hence a super dynamic performance is achieved. This paper presents a new and simple technique of field orientation in BLDC motor drives.

Performance calculation of brushless DC motor
2005 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2005In this paper the performances of a tangentially magnetized brushless DC motor are calculated and tested. For the calculation, both circuit method and finite-element method (FEM) provided by commercial software Ansoft are used. With the circuit method, motor design and performance calculation can be performed.

Pole optimization of brushless DC motor
Conference Record of the 2004 IEEE Industry Applications Conference, 2004. 39th IAS Annual Meeting., 2004For the tangentially magnetized brushless DC motor used for air compressor, the pole embrace and eccentricity are optimized with 2D FEM (finite element method) to decrease the torque ripple. For the pole embrace optimization, seven different pole arc angles are compared, and 60 /spl deg/ is considered as the best one.

Definition of the brushless DC motor
Conference Record of the 1988 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2003The authors assert that previously available definitions of a brushless DC motor are inadequate to distinguish it from other types of brushless motors in the industry. A formal definition of a brushless DC motor is proposed. The definition includes the components of the motor and the types of circuits to energize the stator windings. >

HV DC Brushless Torpedo Propulsion Motor
IEEE Transactions on Industry and General Applications, 1966The 6.5-kV HV dc brushless torpedo propulsion motor based on a Lundell-type solid rotor machine design has been chosen as an essential component of the electric torpedo propulsion system. Sea water is employed as a power return when dc power is transmitted by a single wire.

Undriven vibrations in brushless DC motors
2000 Asia-Pacific Magnetic Recording Conference. Digests of APMRC2000 on Mechanical and Manufacturing Aspects of HDD (Cat. No.00EX395), 2001This paper investigates motor vibrations due to reluctance forces. Forcing frequencies caused by motor design, part geometries, and errors in assembly are tabulated for several popular pole/slot ratios. Motor torque and translational force fluctuations are found to exhibit a rich set of shapes and frequencies, especially when multiple defects occur ...
