Saturation in Brushless Doubly-Fed Induction Machines

8th IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2016), 2016
The brushless Doubly-Fed Induction Machine (DFIM) has many advantages over the conventional DFIG commonly applied in wind turbines. However, due to the complex motion of the magnetic field in this machine type, the inclusion of nonlinear iron saturation in brushless DFIM models has been proven to be challenging.

Design of Brushless Electric Excitation Synchronous Machine

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Brushless electric excitation synchronous machine is a new kind of AC machine. There are two sets of windings with different pole numbers on the stator. It eliminates the brushes and slip rings. The air gap magnetic density of brushless electric excitation synchronous machine is achieved based on Ansoft.

Low cost flux-switching brushless AC machines

2010 IEEE Vehicle Power and Propulsion Conference, 2010
A low cost 3-phase DC winding excited flux-switching (FS) brushless AC machine is developed from the FS permanent magnet (FSPM) machine. The influence of stator and rotor pole number combination on its electromagnetic performance, including flux-linkage and back-emf waveforms, electromagnetic static torque, and torque-current density characteristics ...

Dynamic modeling of brushless doubly-fed machines

Conference Record of the IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2003
A mathematical model that has the necessary flexibility to investigate design alternatives of the brushless doubly fed machine (BDFM) is developed. The model development starts from a consideration of the basic stator coils and the basic nested loops that constitute the rotor cage.

Optimum design of brushless tubular linear machines

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1990
A method which uses finite-element techniques for designing linear tubular brushless DC machines is described. The design technique makes use of approximate calculations to decide the machine dimensions. Finite-element analysis is then employed to calculate a series of designs and determine the optimum one.

Additional losses in permanent magnet brushless machines

Proceedings of 14th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference EPE-PEMC 2010, 2010
The aim of the paper is to analyze the additional Joules losses in permanent magnets. The stator slot openings gives rise to changes in the magnetic flux density in permanent magnets (PM) of the rotor brush-less direct-current (BLDC) machine while the machine is rotating.

Brushless PM actuator for metal bending machine

IECON 2013 - 39th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2013
This paper presents the design concepts and the test results of a Permanent Magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) for an electro-mechanical actuator used in high-performance sheet metal bending machine. The motor is directly integrated with the mechanical component in a rotating-ballscrew architecture in order to minimize the total inertia and the actuator's

Brushless doubly fed reluctance machine parameter determination

2017 20th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2017
This paper examines several techniques for determining the parameters of the Brushless Doubly Fed Reluctance Machine (BDFRM). Even though the mathematical model for this machine is like that of a double-fed induction machine, the very high leakage inductances prevent the use of the normal locked rotor/unloaded rotor tests.

Dynamic simulation of brushless doubly-fed machines

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1991
Dynamic and steady-state models for the simulation of the performance of experimental brushless doubly-fed machines (BDFM) are presented. The dynamic simulation results are obtained using a two-axis representation which has been developed from a detailed machine design model.
