Cross-amplification of heterologous microsatellite markers in Rhamdia quelen and Leporinus elongatus

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2016
Native fish species in Brazil are an asset in fish farming, but their natural stocks have been significantly reduced in recent years. To mitigate this negative impact, studies on fish conservation are being conducted and genetic tools for the ...

Analysis of biomolecular changes caused by exposure to the drug diclofenac sodium in fish of the Brycon Opalinus species using Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)

open access: yes, 2022

Genetic diversity of wild and cultured populations of Brycon opalinus (Cuvier, 1819) (Characiforme, Characidae, Bryconiae) using microsatellites

Aquaculture, 2005
Abstract The genetic structure of Brycon opalinus (Brazilian freshwater fish species) from seven wild populations across Paraiba do Sul basin and one cultured population was investigated using 7 microsatellite loci. Polymorphism at all loci was assessed with a total of 162 different alleles found.

Folliculogenesis and follicular growth in the endangered fish Brycon opalinus, with emphasis on ovarian matrix remodeling

Cell and Tissue Research
Ovarian development of fishes involves significant functional and structural changes during the process of mature egg formation. In this study, we report the folliculogenesis and follicular growth in the endangered species Brycon opalinus as well as the dynamics of the proteins Foxl2, Col4 and MMP-9 during ovarian maturation.
