Microbiome Composition in a Common Mediterranean Bryozoan Following an Unprecedented Marine Heatwave. [PDF]
Myriapora truncata exhibits microbiome compositional changes after the 2022 marine heatwave, despite the absence of visible necrosis. These findings highlight host‐associated microbes as early indicators of thermal stress in Mediterranean benthic ecosystems.

Screening the Irish Marine Biorepository Identifies a New Bryostatin Analog as Potent Inhibitor of Activated B-Cells Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. [PDF]
Bryostatin analogs are found to be accumulated in the nudibranch Antiopella cristata collected in Irish waters. These are found to be potent inhibitors of activated B‐cells diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma. Activated B‐cell diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma (ABC‐DLBCL) is an aggressive cancer with poor response to standard chemotherapy.

We present a genome assembly from an adult colony of Membranipora membranacea (the sea mat; Bryozoa; Gymnolaemata; Cheilostomatida; Membraniporidae). The genome sequence is 339 megabases in span.

Multi-Tool Marine Metabarcoding Bioassessment for Baselining and Monitoring Species and Communities in Kelp Habitats. [PDF]
ABSTRACT The astonishing biological diversity found in Californian kelp forests requires efficient and robust monitoring tools to better understand ecological trends and mitigate against loss or disruption of ecosystem services due to human pressure and climate changes.

Life history of Perarella schneideri (Hydrozoa, Cytaedidae) in the Ligurian Sea
Perarella schneideri is a cytaeidid hydroid living in association with the bryozoan Schizoporella longirostris. In this study we have distinguished the presence of two kinds of polyps in its colonies: large gastrozooids and very extensible filiform ...

First occurrence of the non-native bryozoan Schizoporella japonica Ortmann (1890) in Western Europe [PDF]
Schizoporella japonica Ortmann was described from Japan but was subsequently introduced on Pacific oysters to the Pacific coast of North America, where it is now well established. In this paper we record it for the first time in European waters.

Bioconstruction and biodiversity: their mutual influence
This paper describes the functional role of main benthic constructor organisms and reviews processes by which bioconstructions increase diversity and abundance of associated biota, and the reverse.

Background The phylogenetic position of Bryozoa is one of the most controversial issues in metazoan phylogeny. In an attempt to address this issue, the first bryozoan mitochondrial genome from Flustrellidra hispida (Gymnolaemata, Ctenostomata) was ...
