Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Selection of AFLP markers linked with crown rust resistance in Lolium: efficiency of bulk segregant analysis in an Allogamous species

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2002
Ryegrasses are important forage species. An important foliar disease in Lolium is crown rust, caused by the fungus Pucciniacoronata. This cosmopolitan biotrophic fungus causes forage and seed losses, and decoloration of amenity grasslands. In breeding ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Intrinsic Viscosity Determination by “Single-Point” and “Double-Point” Equations

open access: yesApplied Rheology, 2009
“Single-point” equations used for intrinsic viscosity determination are greatly used when working with synthetic polymer solution systems. In this work we have applied them to a biological macromolecule in a bovine serum albumin (BSA)/water system ...

Identification of genomic regions linked to seed dormancy related traits using bulk segregant analysis in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2023
A total of 119 F6:7 RILs of a cross between BPT 2231 (non- seed dormant parent) and MTU 1001 (seed dormant parent) were analyzed to identify the markers associated with seed dormancy.

P758 Should ECHO measurements be indexed to ideal BSA or actual BSA? [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal - Cardiovascular Imaging, 2020
Abstract INTRODUCTION A patient with aortic stenosis with an AVA of 1.22 cm2 who stands 5’ 6" and weighs 145 lb has a BSA of 1.76m2 (AV area index = 0.69 cm2/m2). If the same patient weighs 200 lbs, the BSA increases to 2.09 m2 (AV area index 0.58 cm2/m2).

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.
