Transparency when assessing critical thinking: A case study of student co‐creation for the midwifery curriculum

open access: yesReview of Education, Volume 14, Issue 1, April 2026.
Abstract This paper examines how student participation can contribute to transparent assessment practices in the context of assessing students' critical thinking skills. Critical reading and writing are key components of assessment in higher education, but the standards are often tacit and implicit.

Hemoglobin equilibration after transfusion in stable postpartum patients

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 2, March 2026.
Abstract Objective Hemoglobin levels are typically checked 4 h after transfusion to assess response, but this delay is unnecessary in nonpregnant adult patients. It remains unclear if postpartum patients need time for hemoglobin levels to stabilize due to post‐delivery pregnancy physiology.

A la carte bioprospecting of substrate‐selective laccases via high‐throughput computational enzyme–substrate interaction profiling

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Laccases are versatile, multicopper oxidases with broad biotechnological applications due to their ability to oxidize a wide range of substrates. Here, we introduce a computational pipeline that combines sequence filtering, Monte Carlo simulations, and quantum mechanical spin density calculations to identify laccase candidates tailored to ...

Dynamic Confinement Approach for High Metal Loading Single‐Atom Catalysts Based on Covalent Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 7, 9 February 2026.
We introduced a new synthetic strategy for the preparation of high metal loading crystalline single‐atom catalysts based on covalent organic frameworks with atomically distributed Pd ions and metal contents of up to 22.2 wt%. Theoretical simulations reveal that the crystalline framework dynamically confines Pd atoms between different binding sites ...

Surgical Nurses' Perspectives on Low‐Value Care and Non‐Nursing Tasks: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Nursing, Volume 35, Issue 3, Page 1303-1317, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Low‐value care provides little or no benefit to patients, or its risk of harm outweighs the potential benefits. Non‐nursing tasks refer to tasks performed by nurses below their scope of practice. With increasing pressure on the global nursing workforce, it is necessary to identify these concepts to deliver fundamental care.

Barriers and accessibility‐improving strategies in mental health services for persons with hearing or vision impairments: Perspectives from professionals and clients—A qualitative interview study

open access: yesPsychology and Psychotherapy: Theory, Research and Practice, Volume 99, Issue 1, Page 40-59, March 2026.
Abstract Objectives Despite studies showing that persons with hearing impairments (HI) or vision impairments (VI) have an increased risk of developing mental health disorders, mental health services frequently are not accessible and suited to the specific needs of both populations.
