A derivation of the stable cavitation threshold accounting for bubble-bubble interactions

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2017
The subharmonic emission of sound coming from the nonlinear response of a bubble population is the most used indicator for stable cavitation. When driven at twice their resonance frequency, bubbles can exhibit subharmonic spherical oscillations if the acoustic pressure amplitude exceeds a threshold value.

Gas Bubble Evolution in Polycrystalline UMo Fuels Under Elastic-Plastic Deformation: A Phase-Field Model With Crystal-Plasticity

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2021
In monolithic UMo fuels, the interaction between the Al cladding and large gas bubble volumetric swelling causes both elastic-plastic and creep deformation.

Bubble-bubble interaction: A potential source of cavitation noise

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2009
The interaction between microbubbles through pressure pulses has been studied to show that it can be a source of cavitation noise. A recent report demonstrated that the acoustic noise generated by a shrimp originates from the collapse of a cavitation bubble produced when the shrimp closes its snapper claw.

Fluid–structure interactions between a near-field underwater explosion bubble and a suspended plate

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2022
During near-field underwater explosions, the structural response induced by the shock wave and bubble load significantly affects the bubble collapse and jet characteristics.

Wall effect on interaction and coalescence of two bubbles in a vertical tube

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
While most studies on bubble dynamics are carried out in unconfined geometries, less attention has been paid to investigate confined bubbles and wall effects.

Three-Dimensional Image Measurement of Bubble-Bubble Interaction

open access: yesJournal of the Visualization Society of Japan, 2004
This paper concerns with experimental measurement of bubble-bubble interaction in a free-rising bubbly flow using three-dimensional Particle Tracking Velocimetry (3-D PTV). An accurate labeling method is employed to measure correctly the center of gravity for individual bubble so that the relative velocity vector in a swarm of bubbles is captured with ...

Bubble Sweep-Down of Research Vessels Based on the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian Method

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
To explore the reason for the bubble sweep-down phenomenon of research vessels and its effect on the position of the stern sonar of a research vessel, the use of a fairing was investigated as a defoaming appendage.

Effect of direct bubble-bubble interactions on linear-wave propagation in bubbly liquids [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2014
We study the influence of bubble-bubble interactions on the propagation of linear acoustic waves in bubbly liquids. Using the full model proposed by Fuster and Colonius [J. Fluid Mech. 688, 253 (2011)], numerical simulations reveal that direct bubble-bubble interactions have an appreciable effect for frequencies above the natural resonance frequency of

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Impact of a bubble–bubble interaction on nonlinear acoustic properties of pressure waves in a non-dilute bubbly liquid

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Bubble–bubble interactions have become important owing to their development for various applications using pressure waves and dense microbubbles. Although the acoustic properties of the nonlinear propagation of pressure waves in bubbly liquids are ...
