Physics Today, 1966
A new liquid-hydrogen bubble chamber is being constructed at Argonne National Laboratory. The chamber will be about 4 meters in diameter and a meter and a half high (Argonne gives the dimensions in deplorable English units) and will be one of the first of the coming size range in bubble chambers.

On Inter-bubble distances and bubble clustering in bubbly Flows: An experimental study
Chemical Engineering Journal, 2022Abstract Swarm effects in bubble columns result from the interaction of the bubbles at higher gas holdup. The flow around individual bubbles in a swarm influences the movement of the following bubbles and this has a feedback on the flow regime on a larger scale.

Bubble-bubble interaction in disperse bubble clouds
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008Disperse bubble fields driven by pressure waves feature effects of time delays associated with the finite speed of travel of the driving acoustic wave, and the finite travel time of pressure waves between bubbles. The relative spatial arrangement of bubble nuclei in a disperse field, and the direction of the incoming pressure wave, both influence the ...

The definitions of "fundamental value" and "speculative bubbles" that are standard in macroeconomics and finance are given formal representations as the countably additive part and the purely finitely additive part (a measure and a pure charge, respectively) of the supporting price system, when the commodity space is LX'.

AbstractWhile Eugene Fama has repeatedly expressed his discontent with the notion of an “irrational bubble,” he has never publicly expressed his opinion on “rational bubbles.” On empirical grounds Fama rejects bubbles by referring to the lack of reliable evidence that price declines are predictable.

Microgravity - Science and Technology, 2005
A short overview of boiling research in microgravity performed during the past two decades is subject of this presentation. The research was concentrated on pool boiling without applying any external forces. The objective of this research was to answer the questions: Is boiling an appropriate mechanism of heat transfer in space applications, and how do

Japan's Bubble, America's Bubble and China's Bubble [PDF]
This paper compares the three recent episodes of boom and bust cycles in asset prices: Japan in the late 1980s to the 1990s; the U.S. since the mid 1990s; and China during the last decade. Although we have not yet seen a collapse of Chinese property prices, the increases so far are comparable to those in the other two episodes and seem to warrant a ...

International comparison of bubbles and bubble indicators
AI & SOCIETY, 2013The purpose of this paper is to analyze the financial turmoil of the US subprime loan crisis of mid-Noughties and to compare it with the Japanese asset bubble of late 1980s. While examining the two crises, it compares the monetary policies of both countries, focusing on the excess liquidity and expansion of bank loans that were seen.

Stock Market Bubbles and Anti-Bubbles
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2018We develop a model of equity expected returns based on the idea that, on average, price equals replacement cost. Our main innovation is to allow for time-varying mean reversion speed in the dynamics of valuation. This time varying mean reversion speed captures complex nonlinear interactions, with the interaction between valuation and expected change in
