Numerical simulations of non-spherical bubble collapse [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2009
A high-order accurate shock- and interface-capturing scheme is used to simulate the collapse of a gas bubble in water. In order to better understand the damage caused by collapsing bubbles, the dynamics of the shock-induced and Rayleigh collapse of a bubble near a planar rigid surface and in a free field are analysed.

Collapse of vacuum bubbles in a vacuum [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2011
Motivated by the discovery of a plenitude of metastable vacua in a string landscape and the possibility of rapid tunneling between these vacua, we revisit the dynamics of a false vacuum bubble in a background de Sitter spacetime. We find that there exists a large parameter space that allows the bubble to collapse into a black hole or to form a wormhole.

The enhanced effect of collapse strength of a dual-frequency driven bubble in 2-dimensional space

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2021
The bubble-collapse strength is closely related to the ultrasonic cavitation effect. The enhanced effect of collapse strength of a dual-frequency driven bubble is one of the mechanisms underlying the synergistic effect of dual-frequency excitation.

Research on the collapse characteristics of single cavitation bubble near solid particle by the VOF method

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
In this paper, the collapse behavior of a single cavitation bubble at different distances near a solid particle of typical scales is numerically simulated and researched with the volume of fluid (VOF) method.

Multibubble Sonoluminescence from a Theoretical Perspective

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
In the present review, complexity in multibubble sonoluminescence (MBSL) is discussed. At relatively low ultrasonic frequency, a cavitation bubble is filled mostly with water vapor at relatively high acoustic amplitude which results in OH-line emission ...

Collapse of Kaluza-Klein bubbles [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 1994
Kaluza-Klein theory admits ``bubble" configurations, in which the circumference of the fifth dimension shrinks to zero on some compact surface. A three parameter family of such bubble initial data at a moment of time-symmetry (some including a magnetic field) has been found by Brill and Horowitz, generalizing the (zero-energy) ``Witten bubble" solution.

Observation of the Formation of Multiple Shock Waves at the Collapse of Cavitation Bubbles for Improvement of Energy Convergence

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
The collapse of a cavitation bubble is always associated with the radiation of intense shock waves, which are highly relevant in a variety of applications.

An equivalent method of jet impact loading from collapsing near-wall acoustic bubbles: A preliminary study

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2021
Cavitation damage is a micro, high-speed, multi-phase complex phenomenon caused by the near-wall bubble group collapse. The current numerical simulation method of cavitation mainly focuses on the collapse impact of a single cavitation bubble.
