Asymmetric Cavitation Bubble Collapse

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1973
Numerical results describing the asymmetric collapse of vapor bubbles in an incompressible liquid for various cases of axial symmetry involving boundary conditions which prevent the maintenance of spherical symmetry are presented using a modified Marker-and-Cell (MAC) technique.

Collapse of cavitation bubbles near air bubbles

Journal of Hydrodynamics, 2019
The cavitation erosion is one of the common damage modes in water engineering. The study of the interaction among cavitation bubbles, air bubbles and the wall is of great significance for understanding the mechanism of the air entrainment to alleviate the cavitation and to enhance the cavitation erosion mitigation effect of aeration.

Spherical vapour bubble collapse

Chemical Engineering Science, 1974
Abstract An experimental study of spherical vapour bubble collapse in uniformly subcooled water has been performed, and data have been obtained on bubble radius and pressure histories for subcoolings up to 60°C. A theoretical incompressible equilibrium model of spherical collapse in an infinite sea geometry utilising a finite difference technique to ...

magnetic bubble collapse in ion implanted bubble propagation tracks

International Magnetics Conference, 1989
The magnetic-bubble collapse fields along the good, bad, and super tracks fabricated on a conventional garnet film and a nearly isotropic garnet film were measured for a cycle of rotating in-plane field. Bubble potential well curves were obtained from the bubble collapse fields and compared with each other.

Slower-motion bubble collapse

Science, 2020
Fluid Mechanics The collapse of viscous bubbles is of practical interest to geophysics, glass manufacturing, and food processing. Previous studies have suggested that gravity or small punctures may play a role in the wrinkling and collapse of viscous bubbles.

Final stages of bubble collapse

Fluid Dynamics, 2009
The process of soap-bubble collapse is studied using a high-speed videocamera. Nine successive photographs of a collapsing bubble obtained in one experiment are presented. The final stages of collapse are analyzed using the model proposed, which allows for an analytical solution.
