Respiratory Organ‐on‐a‐Chip for Disease Modeling: From Architecture to Functional Integration
Respiratory organ‐on‐a‐chip (ROC) models capture key mechanical and cellular cues of the human respiratory system, enabling quantitative dissection of disease mechanisms. This review links ROC architectures to disease modeling, functional integration, and commercialization, and proposes a decision framework that aligns model complexity with mechanistic

A human microfluidic blood‐brain barrier (mBBB) model enables spatially resolved comparison of nanoparticle trafficking. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), liposomes, and nanoplastics exhibit distinct transport and disruption behaviors, revealing that membrane composition and uptake pathways govern BBB interaction.

Dispersed methane flux to the water column from natural gas bubble streams at the Black Sea shelf [PDF]
Gas bubble streams are detected in the water column by the presence of strong, flare shaped backscatter signals recorded during hydroacoustic single beam echosounder surveys (flares). Some of these flares even reach the sea surface. In motion bubbles get

Variable-column bubble oxygenator A new system for bubble oxygenation
A new bubble oxygenator has been developed. Its main advantage is that the dimensions of the oxygenating chamber can be varied. Thus, the capacity for oxygenation may be adapted to different patients. It was used in 2,700 open-heart operations performed at the Institut do Coracão, Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de São Paulo, between January, 1971,

Atomistic Mechanisms Triggered by Joule Heating Effects in Metallic Cu‐Bi Nanowires for Spintronics
Bi doped metallic Cu nanowires are promising for spintronics thanks to the stabilization of a giant spin Hall effect. However, heat resulting from current injection forces Bi to leave solution, forcing segregation into monoatomic decorations which evolve into coherent crystalline aggregates.

Effects of CO2 and pH on Stichococcus bacillaris in Laboratory Scale Photobioreactors
The effects of both the CO2 concentration and the pH of the medium on biodiesel production by Stichococcus bacillaris (ACUF 158/11) were reported. Indoor cultures of S. bacillaris were carried out in both 0.6 L vertical bubble column photobioreactors and

The graphic illustrates the design of a hybrid bilayer composed of a liquid crystal hydrogel (LCH) and a liquid crystal network (LCN). The figure highlights the magnetic alignment of the chromonic hydrogel and the thermal‐responsive actuation of the LCN along with the LCH when both layers are aligned or misaligned, enabling programmable, light‐driven ...
