Breaking the Rayleigh-Plateau instability limit using thermocavitation within a droplet [PDF]
We report on the generation of liquid columns that extend far beyond the traditional Rayleigh-Plateau instability onset. The columns are driven by the acoustic pressure wave emitted after bubble collapse.

Experiments and modeling of bubble column dehumidifier performance [PDF]
Humidification–dehumidification is a promising technology for decentralized, small-scale desalination, but conventional dehumidifiers are expensive due to the large surface area required.

The bubble motion in non-Newtonian fluids is extensively used in many industrial processes. The influence of the liquid viscosity in the hydrodynamic behaviour of bubble columns is related to the bubble formation processes and the tendency to coalescence.

Bubble Size Distribution In Gas-Liquid Dispersion Column
The present work investigates the effect of; superficial air velocities of: 1, 3, and 6 cm/s for two types of perforated distributor on hydrodynamic characteristic in a gas-liquid dispersion column of; air-water, and airaqueous-n-propanol solution ...

Characterization of Bubble Size Distributions within a Bubble Column
The current study experimentally examines bubble size distribution (BSD) within a bubble column and the associated characteristic length scales. Air was injected into a column of water via a single injection tube.

Modelling of removal of surfactants from liquid solutions in a bubble column
This paper proposes a theoretical model for the separation of a surfactant from water in a bubble column. The proposed model includes both mass balance and adsorption thermodynamics of surfactants on bubble surfaces in the liquid solution (e.i.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

The Effects of Engineered Aeration on Atmospheric Methane Flux From a Chesapeake Bay Tidal Tributary
Engineered aeration is one solution for increasing oxygen concentrations in highly eutrophic estuaries that undergo seasonal hypoxia. Although there are various designs for engineered aeration, all approaches involve either destratification of the water ...
