The Effects of Engineered Aeration on Atmospheric Methane Flux From a Chesapeake Bay Tidal Tributary

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2022
Engineered aeration is one solution for increasing oxygen concentrations in highly eutrophic estuaries that undergo seasonal hypoxia. Although there are various designs for engineered aeration, all approaches involve either destratification of the water ...

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

CFD model simulation of bubble surface area flux in flotation column reactor in presence of minerals

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining Science and Technology, 2018
Bubble surface area flux (Sb) is one of the main design parameter in flotation column that typically employed to describe the gas dispersion properties, and it has a strong correlation with the flotation rate constant.

Modelling of removal of surfactants from liquid solutions in a bubble column

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2022
This paper proposes a theoretical model for the separation of a surfactant from water in a bubble column. The proposed model includes both mass balance and adsorption thermodynamics of surfactants on bubble surfaces in the liquid solution (e.i.

Unified modeling of bubbly flows in pipes, bubble columns, and airlift columns

open access: yesChemical Engineering Science, 2017
Abstract Multiphase CFD simulation is a valuable tool in process engineering which is particularly useful to study new reactor concepts and their scale-up from laboratory to production scale. Simulations of bubbly flows up to industrial dimensions are feasible within the Eulerian two-fluid framework of interpenetrating continua.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Effect of pressure on gas holdup in a bubble column and a slurry bubble column.

open access: yesJOURNAL OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING OF JAPAN, 1991
The bubble column is a stainless steel tube with inner diameter of 45 mn and has a cone-shaped bottom. The height of the multiphase contacting section was varied from 0.83 to 1.40 m. The gas was sparged into the column through a single nozzle with inner diameter of 0.59, 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0 mm and with outer diameter of 14 mm.

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

Hydrodynamic Characteristics of a Gas- Liquid –Solid Fluidized Bed Containing a Binary Mixture of Particles [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2009
The present work is an experimental study on the effect of solid loading andsolid properties of both single and binary mixtures on the hydrodynamic parameters(gas holdup and bubble dynamics) of a fluidized bed bubble column. The experimentswere performed
