Coupling bubble and material dynamics to model cavitation peening and pitting
The effects of cavitation bubble dynamics on material peening and pitting is investigated numerically using a coupled fluid and material dynamics approach. The model is applied here to the study of peening and pitting of metallic materials resulting from

Scaling laws for jets of single cavitation bubbles [PDF]
Fast liquid jets, called micro-jets, are produced within cavitation bubbles experiencing an aspherical collapse. Here we review micro-jets of different origins, scales and appearances, and propose a unified framework to describe their dynamics by using ...

The combination of formamidinium thiocyanate and 1,3‐propane diammonium iodide for bulk and top‐surface passivation, and a ternary fullerene blend to improve energy band alignment, suppresses energy losses in wide‐bandgap FAPbBr3 perovskite solar cells.

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

An improved equivalent viscosity model for the bubbly oil under high shear rate
Shear-thinning effect of pure oil and distribution of bubble size are essential factors affecting the viscosity of bubbly oil. This study aims to establish an improved equivalent viscosity model for bubbly oil by considering the shear-thinning effect and

How to play a disc brake [PDF]
We consider a gyroscopic system under the action of small dissipative and non-conservative positional forces, which has its origin in the models of rotating bodies of revolution being in frictional contact.

From Waste to Value: Conversion of Calcium Sulfate to Vaterite via Carbon Capture and Storage
This study introduces a new concept for carbon management that relies on the carbonation of industrial gypsum waste and yields phase‐pure vaterite at ambient conditions without any additives. The obtained vaterite is further shown to be a reactive material that develops compressive strength in aqueous suspensions like conventional cements.

On Charged Mesoscopic Metallic Bubbles
We investigate the existence of stable charged metallic bubbles using the shell correction method. We find that for a given mesoscopic system of n atoms of a given metal and q less n (positive) elementary charges, a metallic bubble turns out to have a ...

Rheological behaviour of suspensions of bubbles in yield stress fluids [PDF]
The rheological properties of suspensions of bubbles in yield stress fluids are investigated through experiments on model systems made of monodisperse bubbles dispersed in concentrated emulsions.
