Bubble dynamics in boiling histotripsy [PDF]

open access: yesUltrasound in Medicine & Biology, 2018
Boiling histotripsy is a non-invasive, cavitation-based ultrasonic technique which uses a number of millisecond pulses to mechanically fractionate tissue. Though a number of studies have demonstrated the efficacy of boiling histotripsy for fractionation of solid tumours, treatment monitoring by cavitation measurement is not well studied because of the ...

Explaining Unwanted Radial Oscillations in Single-Bubble Sonoluminescence [PDF]

open access: yesProgress in Physics of Applied Materials
This study presents a theoretical model to explain the bubble oscillation phenomenon that occurs after each flash in single-bubble sonoluminescence (SBSL).

Research Advances of Bubble Dynamics in Power Transformers

open access: yesCSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems
Condition monitoring and maintenance are essential for ensuring stable and reliable operation of facility transformer, reducing costs, and increasing expected life. Foam cannot be avoided within the power transformer which illustrates at least one of the

Coupling bubble and material dynamics to model cavitation peening and pitting

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2016
The effects of cavitation bubble dynamics on material peening and pitting is investigated numerically using a coupled fluid and material dynamics approach. The model is applied here to the study of peening and pitting of metallic materials resulting from

Improving the Performance of Surface Flow Generated by Bubble Plumes

open access: yesFluids, 2021
Gas–liquid two-phase flow is widely used in many engineering fields, and bubble dynamics is of vital importance in optimizing the engineering design and operating parameters of various adsorptive bubble systems.

Controlled Cavitation in Microfluidic Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We report on cavitation in confined microscopic environments which are commonly called microfluidic or lab-on-a-chip systems. The cavitation bubble is created by focusing a pulsed laser into these structures filled with a light-absorbing liquid.

Bubble Dynamics in Laser Lithotripsy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2015
Laser lithotripsy is a medical procedure for fragmentation of urinary stones with a fiber guided laser pulse of several hundred microseconds long. Using high-speed photography, we present an in-vitro study of bubble dynamics and stone motion induced by Ho:YAG laser lithotripsy.

Shock Wave Emissions of a Sonoluminescing Bubble

open access: yes, 1998
A single bubble in water is excited by a standing ultrasound wave. At high intensity the bubble starts to emit light. Together with the emitted light pulse, a shock wave is generated in the liquid at collapse time.

Numerical bubble dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Abstract A computational study of the dynamics of a gas bubble rising in a viscous liquid is presented. The proposed numerical method allows to simulate a wide range of flow regimes, accurately capturing the shape of the deforming interface of the bubble and the surface tension effect, while maintaining a good mass conservation.
