Modelling of bubbling fluidised bed coal gasifiers
Fuel, 1999A previous numerical model of fluidised-bed coal gasifiers has been further improved to incorporate an overall energy balance. The improved model has been used to simulate the performance of bubbling fluidised-bed coal gasifiers of different scales.

Gas flow through a bubble in a fluidised bed
Chemical Engineering Science, 1972By considering the equations of motion for gas and particle flow around a bubble in a fluidised bed, it is shown that the direction of the radial gas velocity component changes at θ = cos−1 (23). Thus all the gas flow out of the bubble occurs over the front region of the bubble contained by this angle.

Transfer of heat from bubbles in a fluidised bed
The Chemical Engineering Journal, 1970Abstract Experimental measurements of heat transfer from a gas-fluidised bed to a chain of gas bubbles are presented. Glass beads were fluidised in a vertical cylinder at the minimum velocity by heated air while a cold air stream was introduced at the center of the base plate from a single orifice.

Gasification of Sawdust in Bubbling Fluidised Bed Gasifier
2020The post-modern age has lead to the excessive use of fossil fuels in energy and transportation systems, which contributes to the ever-growing environmental concern. This motivates considerable investigations on alternative energy sources like biomass. The growing uncertainty regarding the use and availability of fossil fuel compounds to the need.

The Bubble Phase in High-Pressure Fluidised Beds
1980The slugging/bubbling behaviour of a wide-size range of powders has been investigated at gas pressures up to 25 bar in a 0.1 m diameter fluidised bed, by X-ray photography of slugs within the system and by direct observation of the bed surface.

The effect of bed materials on the solid/bubble motion in a fluidised bed
Chemical Engineering Science, 2008Abstract Gas fluidisation provides good mixing and contact of the gas and particle phases as well as good heat transfer. These attractive features are achieved by the high degree of bubble-induced particle circulation within the bed. Bubble and particle motion vary with bed materials and operating conditions, as investigated in the present study, by ...

Mechanistic Prediction of Bubble Properties in Freely-Bubbling Fluidised Beds
1980The approach developed by Nguyen et al.(1975) for predicting bubble behaviour in beds of Geldart’s (1973) Group B particles has been modified to enable application to beds of larger scale. The predictions are generally in agreement with the measurements of Werther (1974), but some discrepancy arises from non-uniform bubble formation caused by solids ...
