GRAVITY-DRIVEN BUBBLY FLOWS

Annual Review of Fluid Mechanics, 2005
▪ Abstract  Gravity-driven bubbly flows are a specific class of flows, where all action is provided by gravity. An industrial example is formed by the so-called bubble column: a vertical cylinder filled with liquid through which bubbles flow that are introduced at the bottom of the cylinder.

Modelling bubbly flows

1994
Modelling formulations for the transport dynamics of bubbles, drops and particles as disperse elements within turbulently flowing liquid and gas as fluid continua remain contentious and essentially unresolved issues. Broadly, three schools may be distinguished, as follows.First, exclusively Eulerian approaches where Reynolds averaged equations are ...

Chemical Reactions in Bubbly Flows

2021
Reactive bubbly flows are found in many chemical and biochemical processes. They are characterized by complex hydrodynamics that govern global mass transfer and reaction rates. Effects, which have to be taken into account when modelling and simulating the reaction progress, are enhanced bubble–bubble interaction and bubble-induced turbulence as well as

An Automatic Bubble Flow Meter

Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 1962
AbstractThe construction of an automatic bubble flow meter for measurement of arterial or venous blood flow is described. The blood passes through a plastic tubing kept at a constant temperature by a water thermostat. An air bubble is automatically injected into the tubing and the passage of the bubble is detected by two phototransistors.

CFD MODELING OF ADIABATIC BUBBLY FLOW

Multiphase Science and Technology, 2011
This paper describes the simulation of adiabatic gas-liquid flow based on the Eulerian approach. An adequate characterization of the momentum exchange between the phases is necessary. The basic experiment investigating the momentum exchange is vertical upward flow in a pipe.

Homogeneous Bubbly Flows

1995
Abstract When the concentration of bubbles in a flow exceeds some small value the bubbles will begin to have a substantial effect on the fluid dynamics of the suspending liquid. Analyses of the dynamics of this multiphase mixture then become significantly more complicated and important new phenomena may be manifest. In this chapter we
