Development of Mucoadhesive Patches for Buccal Administration of Carvedilol

Current Drug Delivery, 2007
A buccal patch for systemic administration of carvedilol in the oral cavity has been developed using two different mucoadhesive polymers. The formulations were tested for in vitro drug permeation studies, buccal absorption test, in vitro release studies, moisture absorption studies and in vitro bioadhesion studies.

Oral Biodisposition Study of Ritodrine after Its Buccal Administration in Rats.

Current Drug Delivery, 2017
BACKGROUND In the previous study, buccal absorption of ritodrine (RD) hydrochloride was reported in vivo. As a result, buccal dosing of RD solution was found to be useful for the maintenance of effective plasma concentration.

Systemic uptake of buprenorphine after buccal administration in cats

Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, 2002
Administration of drugs to cats can be challenging and simple but effective techniques would be attractive to the owners. The purpose of this study was to compare the pharmacokinetics of buprenorphine (B) after buccal administration, and compare these to data previously collected from the same colony of cats after IV and IM injection.

Bioavailability of morphine, methadone, hydromorphone, and oxymorphone following buccal administration in cats.

Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 2014
Buccal administration of buprenorphine is commonly used to treat pain in cats. It has been argued that absorption of buprenorphine through the buccal mucosa is high, in part due to its pKa of 8.24. Morphine, methadone, hydromorphone, and oxymorphone have

Development of chitosan sponges for buccal administration of insulin

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2007
Abstract This paper describes the development of a new highly porous, flexible device for buccal peptide administration by a very simple and mild casting/freeze-drying procedure. It consists of a mucoadhesive chitosan layer containing the peptide drug and an impermeable protective layer made of ethylcellulose.

Absorption behavior of etilefrine after buccal administration in rats

International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2018
Etilefrine hydrochloride (ET-HCl) is used in the treatment of hypotension. Dosage forms of orally administered tablets and parenteral injections are clinically available, but exhibit unfavorable characteristics, including cardiac toxicity, headaches, and damage at the injection site for the parenteral dosage form, and initially high plasma levels, fast
