Absorption of Clindamycin from the Buccal Cavity
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1970Clindamycin, which is known to be absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, was absorbed extremely slowly, or possibly not at all, from the buccal cavity at various pH values. This finding indicates that buccal absorption alone cannot be used to predict the gastrointestinal absorption of a compound.

The Absorption of Sugars from the Human Buccal Cavity
Clinical Science, 19761. Certain sugars were transported across the buccal mucosa by a carrier-mediated mechanism. 2. The metabolic loss of sugars from the mouth in a 5 min test period was negligible. 3. The buccal mucosal transport process was stereospecific for d-glucose and l-arabinose. 4.

Absorption of amino acids from the human buccal cavity
Biochemical Society Transactions, 1981appropriate controls the concentration of each amino acid could be established. The absence of glycylproline ( < 0 . 5 m ~ ) from the samples were established by t.1.c. From each of two to six animals a minimum of four sacs were prepared from the ileum.

Cancers of the Buccal Cavity and Pharynx in Circumpolar Inuit
Acta Oncologica, 1996In an international collaboration, cancers of the buccal cavity and pharynx were combined from cancer registries in the Circumpolar region, including Alaska, Canada and Greenland. Low risk of cancers of the lip (SIR 0.2) was observed among Inuit. Increased risk of cancer of the tongue and oral cancer (SIR 2.5) were observed among Greenlandic Inuit men.

Index Tumors of the Buccal Cavity and Pharynx
1977Population studied. A total of 5,777 patients with a primary malignant tumor of the buccal cavity or pharynx were followed for the subsequent development of independent primary malignant neoplasms; 491 such subsequent neoplasms were discovered. 81.3% of the patients with cancer of the buccal cavity and pharynx were male.
