Capitalizing flood risk protective measures in residential real estate

open access: yesReal Estate Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract This study utilizes 1.4 million residential transactions incorporating flood hazard estimates derived from a nationwide elevation model and hydrological data to examine the role of flood protections to mitigate the negative impact of flood risk on home prices.

Taxonomic and functional diversity of noctuoid moths in a Mediterranean coastal area: implications for dune conservation in a long‐term ecological research eLTER site

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the taxonomic and functional diversity of noctuoid moths in a protected coastal dune system in Central Italy, revealing strong ecological associations between moth assemblages and dune zonation. Differences in species composition and trait attributes, along with the presence of habitat‐exclusive species, highlight the role of ...

Availability of a Keystone Plant Resource Reduces Niche Overlap and Drives Distinct Species‐Specific Changes in Niche Breadth Among Small Rodents

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
We investigated how three rodent species respond to the seasonal availability of Araucaria angustifolia seeds. While Oligoryzomys spp. increased seed consumption and abundance during seed production, the more insectivorous Akodon paranaensis maintained a broader diet.

Mothbox and Mothbot: Automated light trap and data processing system for scalable insect monitoring

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, EarlyView.
Abstract Insects represent the most diverse group of organisms on Earth and comprise the majority of known species; yet they are seldom accounted for in large‐scale biodiversity monitoring systems and conservation planning. We have developed the Mothbox—an open source automated light trap that makes insect monitoring accessible to non‐specialists and ...

Forking anatomy: How MorphoDepot applies the open‐source development model to 3D digital morphology

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, EarlyView.
Abstract The increasing use of 3D imaging technologies in biological sciences is generating vast repositories of anatomical data, yet significant barriers prevent these data from reaching its full potential in educational and collaborative contexts.
