Buckling Analysis under Uncertainty

The authors present a new approach to buckling analysis of columns under parametric uncertainty. The approach is based on possibility theory, where the uncertain parameters are modeled by possibility distributions and an analytical approach is used to propagate the uncertainties through the computations.

Lateral buckling analysis of beams by the fem

Two new finite element formulations for the calculation of the lateral buckling load for elastic straight prismatic thin-walled open beams under conservative static loads, are presented. The stability criterion used is based on the positive definiteness of the second variation of the total potential energy.

Numerical analysis of buckling by torsion and buckling by torsion and flexure

The paper discusses the problems of torsional and tosional-flexural buckling of uniformly compressed thin-walled beam-type structures of open cross sections. Numerical approach used in this paper is based on the finite element method and so treated problems are finally solved as matrix eigenvalue ones.
